Responsible Leadership – Responding to COVID-19
The challenge that Canadians have been facing with COVID-19 is unprecedented. A new normal in business operations has emerged that relies on responsiveness, resiliency, and promptly implementing the appropriate actions necessary to keep each other safe and healthy. As the Ontario economy reopens, the health and safety of our employees, their families, our customers, and our communities continue to be our top priority.
OE has been serving the GTA community for 25 years. We take pride in the work that we do and in our safe work procedures. As the COVID-19 outbreak rapidly shifts and evolves, we remain vigilant, making timely adaptations to our policies and procedures in view of Public Health recommendations and directives. As an essential services provider during the pandemic, we have taken numerous steps in our workplace to counter the threat of Covid-19. Some of these steps are described immediately below. We continue to think ahead about how additional safe work protocols form a key part of daily activities for our business and working with our customers safely.
While Canada’s top public health doctor is urging businesses and communities to begin conducting self-assessments of their environments, OE has already been doing this since late February and we will continue to do so as new or different public health recommendations come forward that relate to our workplaces. We have responded with strong action. This includes updating our Safe Job Procedure focused on Covid-19 to include:
- Ability to Work Pre-screening Questionnaire
- Job Site Safety Assessment Protocol – COVID-19
- Rotating work schedules
- Physical distancing a minimum of 2 metres
- Supply and use of disinfectants to sanitize truck interiors and equipment
- Supply and use of protective face masks and shields
- Daily clothing changes including gloves
- Daily temperature checks
We Are Ready to Support All Customers in Maintaining Ontario’s Vital Infrastructure
With the reopening of non-essential construction projects across Ontario, OE is ramping up to full capacity and ready to serve our customers. We will continue to conduct our work while respecting the Public Health order of physical distancing and taking precautionary measures for the safety of our employees, customers, and communities.
You can continue to count on us during this ongoing and unprecedented crisis. However, if you have any concerns or questions about our operations during this time, please call us directly at (416) 749-0005.
We Are Stronger Together
As Canadians, we strive to take care of each other. It is clear that businesses have a significant role to play through this pandemic and many have stepped up to help others in need and less fortunate. In response to the call for supplies, Ontario Excavac has donated N95 masks to Covenant House and safety glasses to Simcoe Terrace Retirement Centre so that they can continue to do great work safely.
We are extremely grateful to all the people on the frontline of the COVID-19 battle, for their selfless dedication in looking after our loved ones and helping to keep our communities safe. We will get through this crisis together and emerge even stronger than before.
