Barry Wood, President & Chief Executive Officer
In 2013, Barry joined Ontario Excavac as an investor and CEO.
With a successful background in businesses ranging from manufacturing to distribution and services, finance, and acquisitions, Barry is a recognized leader in implementing continuous improvement (“CI”) and LEAN enterprise practices. Working with Ontario Excavac personnel, Barry has introduced a number of CI initiatives focused on delivering enhanced services to customers. Always putting customers first, Barry has grown key relationships in the business and also introduced cutting edge technologies focused on new lines of business.
An innovator by nature, Barry spearheaded the launch of the first and only hydrovac slurry processing and recycling facility in Ontario, located right on OE’s premises. This state-of-the-art facility reduces environmental impact, promotes sustainable development while generating considerable cost savings for customers. Barry is a Director of the Utility Contractors Association and was the founding chair of the Hydrovac Alliance of Ontario.
Barry recognizes that his employees are the driving force behind Ontario Excavac’s continued success. His mentorship and commitment to a high-performance culture and continuous learning ensures that customers have the most dedicated, highly trained, and responsive team working for them.
Barry and his family of outdoor enthusiasts enjoy skiing, cycling, wake surfing, hiking….pretty much all things that are sporty. Barry is also a Masters Ontario competitive swimmer.
Brett Tye, Director, Fleet & Operations
Brett joined Ontario Excavac shortly after graduating from St. Lawrence. Now, with twenty years of experience, Brett is one of our young industry’s most experienced individuals. Brett has spent many years working in the field. He is a natural problem solver for customers and can get even the most difficult jobs done efficiently and cost-effectively. Brett has custom-designed OE’s hydrovacs, making them safer and easier to operate in winter conditions. In addition, he has enhanced the hydrovacs’ operating effectiveness and speed, while at the same time, lowered noise and exhaust emissions. Brett is committed to making all of our customers’ experiences exceed their expectations.

Grace Meade, Director, Human Resources and Health & Safety
Grace Meade joined Ontario Excavac in 2017 with an expressed purpose to enhance the employee experience. Grace is focused on strengthening a company culture of highly engaged, forward-thinking, and enthusiastic employees who are committed to providing exceptional service to our progressive underground utility customers.
Grace ensures that the OE Health and Safety Program is in compliance with the respective Ministry of Labour acts and regulations, such as the Employment Standards Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
With a focus on people, learning, and development, Grace ensures that all health, safety, and wellness plans are current and employee training is up to date. She is a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) and earned a Human Resources Management Certificate from Humber College. Grace is also certified through IHSA as a COR Internal Auditor and most recently as an ISO9001:2015 Internal Auditor.
Grace is an avid reader and loves to explore the countryside.

Malcolm Robertson, Director, Customer Sales & Services
Since 2010, Malcolm Robertson has dedicated his role at Ontario Excavac to continually exceeding customer expectations. Tasked with the responsibility to effectively plan, organize and schedule client projects, Malcolm ensures that the strictest safety standards are a top priority, that work is executed effectively and completely, and that OE customers are happy with the results.
Malcolm ensures that the OE Health and Safety Plan is fully complied with, including compliance with the Technical Standards and Safety Authority, Ministry of Labour and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
A family man, Malcolm keeps in shape by chasing after three young children. When time permits, you can often find Malcolm working on cars for fun.

David Branigan, Director, Finance
David joined OE in 2021. David is responsible for all financial reporting requirements of the business, both external and internal, along with treasury and asset protection functions. He brings 20+ years of working with private equity firms in the entertainment, construction and manufacturing sectors. David holds a CPA-CMA.

George Chung, General Manager, Southwestern Ontario & Team Lead Sales
George joined OE in 2021 to focus on growth and business development in Ontario. George was also tasked with enhancing internal and external operational processes. With executive operational and sales experience across a diverse range of industries including underground utilities services, George brings a North American perspective to the business and a wealth of industry knowledge. In his spare time, George is committed to his volunteer and charity work.

Zoltan Pop, Director, Business Development, Southwestern Ontario
Zoltan joined OE in 2021 to expand OE’s footprint in the South-West Ontario region. Zoltan uses his experience and background in the construction industry and his understanding of site and technical requirements to ensure OE customers get the best possible experience, which entails a quick response to customer needs while offering the best cost ratio. When Zoltan isn’t working, he can be found walking his two dogs on local trails, riding his mountain bike or completing his latest carpentry projects.

Chris Penic, Senior Manager, Customer Relationships
Since 2006, Chris has advanced his career with Ontario Excavac holding progressively senior positions with the company. Specializing in water and gas services, Chris is committed to working with customers to find the most cost-effective solution for their projects. His deep experience in the field enables him to plan a workflow that maximizes the time spent on a productive job site.
Chris holds a diploma from Humber College in Business Management, Financial Services and has continued his education in construction project management, procurement, zoning, and building regulations. Chris also holds certificates of training from CATT – Center for the Advancement of Trenchless Technologies in; Watermain Defect Coding, Condition Grading and Renovation and, Condition Assessment & Rehab of Asbestos Cement Pipelines. He is certified and trained to install Primus Line Low Pressure, Medium Pressure, and High-Pressure systems for gas, oil, and water applications.
As parents of two young children, Chris and his wife love to spend time outdoors playing with the kids, going camping or just hanging out at the beach.

Ken Ripley, Senior Manager, Operations
Ken joined Ontario Excavac in 2018 bringing more than twenty years of experience working on water main projects with several municipalities across Ontario. At OE, Ken is focused on managing water-based projects for ClearLine, OE’s exclusive water main condition assessment and renewal technology.
Ken is no stranger to working with the most advanced technology and hydrovac equipment available and he is committed to helping municipalities solve their water issues with the appropriate use of new technologies.
Raised in Peterborough Ontario, Ken graduated from Trent University in Business Administration and has completed his NACE, Corrosion Technologist Certification. He is also certified through IHSA as a COR Internal Auditor. In his free time, Ken can be found enjoying the outdoors with his friends and family.
