Job Posting:  310T Mechanic

Located in Vaughan, Ontario Excavac is the largest provider of hydro- excavation services using hydrovac technology (high pressure water and vacuum soil removal) in the Greater Toronto Area (“GTA”),

Ontario Excavac operates a large fleet of hydrovac trucks, unshrinkable-fill cement trucks and aggregate dump trucks. The company primarily services private and public utilities companies, contractors, municipalities and land developers in accessing buried utilities for installation, repair and upgrading purposes.

There is a wealth of accumulated knowledge and experience about hydro-excavation plus the effective and safe application of hydrovac technology to assist our Customers.

We are continuing to grow and have a need for a certified 310T Mechanic to join our team to service and maintain our fleet of heavy-duty and medium-duty diesel and gasoline powered trucks.

Afternoon shift.  Hours:  3:00 to 11:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.  Starting rate:  $35.00/hr (includes shift premium) plus participation in the company benefit plan.

Duties include:
Provide routine maintenance as well as engine and compressor overhauls.
Check all heavy equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
Repair and adjust hydraulic pumps, safety valves, and any other necessary mechanical components.
Diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment.
Inspect, repair and adjust gasoline and diesel powered units.
Perform incidental welding operations on equipment.
Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances.
Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.
Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
Installation of new and added-on equipment.
Electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and diagnostics.
Repair cooling, and lubrication systems.
Repair mechanical transmissions, drive-trains and final drives.
Repair cable-operated working attachments, winches, compressors, pumps, electric generators, etc.
Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work.
Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
Other duties as assigned.
Only candidates that meet the following criteria will be considered:

310T Truck and Coach Technician Certification.
Minimum 3 years practical experience with heavy truck and truck-trailer maintenance required. Hydrovac truck knowledge is an asset.
Possess the recommended hand tools for a 310T Technician.  Specialty tools will be provided.
Clean driver’s and CVOR abstract required.
Valid class “G” driver’s license for the Province of Ontario.  DZ driver’s license preferred
Fluent in English (verbal and written).
Team player, follows direction, willingness to help, organized, punctual, responsible, able to work independently.
Work Conditions:

Physical ability to lift up to 50lb, unassisted.
Shop environment and on road repairs if needed, which may include construction sites.
Safety equipment will be required, e.g. hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed safety boots, etc.
Overtime as required.
Hazards associated with the trade.
